User state will be captured and restored in this scenario. Installing OS Images using System Management Server 2003 OS Deployment Feature Pack (Part -1)

This post describes the steps to use System Management Server 2003 (SMS) Operating System Deployment (OSD) feature pack to deploy OS images on a new computer. In this scenario a preconfigured OS image will be deployed to a computer system that has no operating system installed. In this three part post we will configure SMS image package and Remote Installation Services (RIS) to deliver SMS OS Images. We will also configure SMS OSD program to create multiple partitions and to install security patches after the installation is completed.
